GLORY Banner

Leslie and I each made a "Glory" banner.
Just in time for the 4th!
Of course we used burlap!
Leslie had some paper that looked like ticking and I used it to cut the letters out with the CriCut.
I LOVE how the Posies on the ends turned out.
I think that I want to wrinkle mine up a little more!
We added some glitter to each penant.
Don't look to close at my lines...I had shakies at the time! :)
Our thought process on this banner is to make it "Generic".
The "GLORY" letters are actually just hanging from the clothes pin.
That way we can use the burlap penant all year long and change the topper out seasonally!
Look at our top part...we used brown paper sacks as a "bias tape" to help hot glue the jute onto!!
Leslie and I have a lot up our sleeves!  I should have more pictures soon!  Let's just say I spray painted a lot today!! :)

Berry Baskets!!!

Leslie is a genius again!  She found plain, unfinished Berry Baskets for 25 cents each!
So, the doll that she is bought me one too!
Leslie spray painted her basket black with a red handle.
I did the opposite with red spray paint and a black handle.
We also used some faux ticking material {we tore 3 strips to get the frayed look}.  I found the numbers for about 20 cents each at a closeout hardware store.   The key is from HobLob!
Leslie will have her basket in her kitchen with cute napkins in it.
Right now my basket is in my kitchen also.
We have plans on making more stuff to fill it!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

American Flag Hangings

Leslie and I had a "fieldtrip" to Goodwill last week and bought these American Flags for real cheap.  I found these fabulous iron hangers at HobLob.  We put 2 and 2 together and made this...
This is Leslie's Hanging:
We also bought a few weeks ago at the flea market these vintage Americana pictures cards.  We thought it would be fun to add a "tag" to the hanging.  We just added some glitter glue to the edges of the pictures.
This is my hanging:
I have decided to put my tag on the other side of the hanging since I have seen this picture...
Burlap just makes everything look fabulous!!
Stay tooned...we also made some fun aprons and we have great projects coming up this week!

First Post & some Projects

Welcome to Magnolia Junk!
We are Leslie & Jenn, two wild and crazy crafty friends!
We have known each other for over 7 years now, our kids are good friends.
We were both born in the same small town named Magnolia.
That is where we get our name "Magnolia Junk", the junk
part just because we like junkin'!
We also found out that after our families moved from Magnolia, we lived in the same town again
and went to the same elementary school.
Now we are in another new town, our lives intersecting now! :)
We get together at least once a week to have a "playdate" making something.

Here are some recent projects:
Mossy Landscapes
This is Leslie's, she has seashells in hers right now.
She made it out of a long cabinet door that she painted black.
This is my creation that Leslie helped me make...
I have it on my dining table.
Here is Leslie's Rain Barrel:
She made this herself...she is a genius, you know!
It is made from a large plastic trash can.
She cut a large circle from the lid, stretched screen across the top and there you go!
It keeps all of the leaves and etc. out of the water...this is full!
She is going to use it to water her garden!
Enjoy!
